Can Busty Gals Wear Bralettes?

FIT TIPS - November 09, 2019

Let’s start with the basics. Yes, busty girls can 100% wear bralettes. Just like anyone CAN wear Crocs, does that mean they work for everyone. Hell no! Well, technically they can but you know what we mean.

Bralettes are still on the rise and unsurprisingly, not going anywhere. They’re comfy. That’s all we need to say because let’s face it, most bras are not. So it’s no real shocker why the women of the world are buying them up like they’re going out of style.

At the moment, they’re everywhere from boutiques to Target, available in tonnes of colours, designs, you name it. But. And there’s a big ‘but’.

While our Insta feeds are full of the festival season bralette, one thing has been made exceptionally clear. Whoever is making them, is kinda forgetting one really, ridiculously important thing…Boobs bigger than a D cup do exist and funnily enough, the average size in the US is 34DD and in the UK it’s 36DD. We know, shocker right?

Unlike the brands that lead you to believe you’re the minority, hence why they don’t cater ‘specifically’ to you, you’re actually the majority! Which means a lot of brands just plain suck and find it ‘too hard’ to cater to you.

You see, when it comes to bralettes for anything over a DD, they’re practically a fantasy.

Sure, it might fit and look cute, but 9 times outta 10 it’s perfect if you don’t plan on moving. Ever. Again. Until you take it off that is. Which is inevitable because you are a living, breathing woman who has things to do. So many things.

Well, ladies, after many years of fearing the worst, I’m here to tell you that yes, you bloody can wear a bralette and you can damn well wear it proud.

So, what exactly is a bralette?

If you don’t know what a bralette is, what rock have you been hiding under? And where is it? I’d like to take a little vacay there!

Traditionally, a bralette is a soft cup bra without underwires or even a clasp gasp! They’re typically made from a stretchy jersey or lace material, and have a generally simple design for easy construction and mass production.

They come in lots of different shapes and sizes, but there’s one thing most of them have in common — an emphasis on style and comfort over shape and support.

They can be worn as a bra depending on what sort of coverage you’re after, they can be worn as a fashion statement under sheer blouses or various tops and if you’re all about those Coachella vibes, you can wear it as a top. No judgement.

Sure, they look cute, but can they ACTUALLY support my girls?

This generally depends on the make of the bralette, but the short answer is often no. Most are designed with A-C cup women in mind, who typically require less support.

Wait, does this mean busty gals can’t wear ‘em?

Yes and no… Although there are some fuller bust bralettes on the market, they’re typically just an upsized version of their smaller bust counterparts. As a result, they tend to lack the support fuller busted women require.

So what options do I have then?

I’m not going to say we’re your only option on the market because there are many, with more appearing by the day – which we think is great! But we won’t lie, there are many bralettes out there promising women the world but sadly just don’t deliver.

Just like most bralette manufacturers who focus on A-C cups, we’ve done kind of the opposite. We focus specifically on F – H cup (AUS/NZ/UK) or G – K (US/CA/EU), which basically means we can guarantee support and lift because we’ve made them for that exact purpose. For you. Because you deserve a wire-free bralette that actually does what it says it will.

But, how is Sugar Candy different?

The SugarCandy* busty bralettes is designed specifically for you with easy peasy XS-XXL sizing that accommodates *drumroll please* 35 different cup and band sizes. Covering from a (US) G cup all the way up to K cup (thats F – H for all our AUS, NZ and UK peeps.) This is made possible by our extended hook and eye closure (6 rows worth, to be precise!) But the REAL are these key things:

Wireless support tech (that actually works): Diggy in wires straight to the boob? Ahh no thanks! Our wire-free knitted support might sound like a bunch of mumbo jumbo but it feels like a second skin. It’s soft, unbelievably comfy and has unrivalled support with knitted ribbed panels mimic the shape and support of a wire bra, without the wire. Win.

We’re anti-monoboob: Merging boobs makes no sense for many reasons. Our wire-free support, heat moulded cups and inner slings work together to prevent mono-boob. Featuring a double layer for additional strength and support, our seam-free moulded cups will morph to your body and give you that ‘your boobs but better’ look and stop them boobs going east to west – it’s north only from here on out.

Dreaded boob sweat be gone: Made of moisture wicking fabric, SugarCandy will keep you dry, confident and worry free.

So, who can wear it?

Sugar Candy has been designed for all fuller busted women with F – H cup (AUS/NZ/UK) or G – K (US/CA/EU). Age is no barrier and attitude no limit. Strong confident bodies are what we stand for.

So where does one wear such a garment…

Wherever you want. We’re not here to tell you what this busty bralette is for, but we’re here to tell you that you’ll be supported whatever you choose to do. Except high intensity sports. But that’s pretty much it! The beauty of the bralette is that it’s entirely up to you. For some it’s their go to everyday bra, a yoga bra, a sleep bra, a lounge-around-the-house watching Netflix bra, the bra you wear when your period gifts you with sore boobs and you want nothing more than pure comfort.

How do I care for it?

We understand you’ve got better things to do than worry about putting your bra in the wash, so we’ve made this super simple. Step 1. Cold machine wash in a lingerie bag (Our product’s by no means delicate but your other clothes might be). Step 2. Hang to drip dry in a shaded area away from direct sunlight. That’s it.
